I specialize in treating addictions and helping clients understand the root causes of destructive coping skills. There is always something that drives the addiction, and this is where the work needs to be done. I help clients set achievable and empowering short term goals as they work to overcome their addiction. As the client progresses in their recovery, we will work on setting long-term goals, such as rebuilding damaged relationships, letting go of guilt, and repairing damage to their career.

I have worked with adolescents and adults in Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) and in outpatient settings. I have extensive experience working with adolescents who are experimenting with alcohol and other substances as well as adults struggling with substance abuse and addiction.

I also work with individuals who may be concerned about their use of alcohol or drugs to help get to sleep or to cope with anxiety or some of life’s daily problems that may seem overwhelming. I can help clients recognize the difference between healthy social drinking and misusing alcohol or drugs to manage problems, which can contribute to overuse and abuse and lead to serious health and legal consequences. I will perform a substance abuse assessment to help determine the need for harm reduction, abstinence, or possibly help with choosing a higher level of care. I have a comprehensive knowledge of local IOPs and the best inpatient programs in the tri-state area and Florida. If you decide to pursue one of these treatment options, I can help you make a smooth, supportive transition.

When a person is struggling with substance abuse and addiction, the impact often extends to those around them. In addition to helping clients with their own recovery, I work with family members looking for support in coping with a loved one’s addiction. Family members may come to counseling on their own or as part of their loved one’s recovery. I provide warm, friendly, nonjudgmental guidance to help individuals and families address problems that are holding them back. Together, we will work to increase communication and decrease anger that gets in the way of finding answers and solutions.
